EU Lifelong Learning Programmes
The European Commission has integrated its various educational and training initiatives under a single umbrella, the Lifelong Learning Programme. With a significant budget of nearly EUR 7 billion for 2007 to 2013, the new programme replaces the existing education, vocational training and e-Learning programmes, which ended in 2006.
The new Lifelong Learning Programme enables individuals at all stages of their lives to pursue stimulating learning opportunities across Europe. It consists of four sub-programmes: Comenius (for schools), Erasmus (for higher education), Leonardo da Vinci (for vocational education and training) and Grundtvig (for adult education).
Totnes European School has been involved with several of these programmes since their inception, with particular experience in organising the Mobility Programmes.
Erasmus Mobility Programmes
Erasmus emphasises student and staff mobility. Together with an enriched study experience, Erasmus also provides exposure to different cultures.
In addition to students, Erasmus also targets teachers, trainers, and others involved in higher education.
Totnes European School has already run the first of such programmes.
Leonardo Mobility Programmes
The Leonardo da Vinci programme focuses on the teaching and training needs of those involved in vocational education and training. It aims to establish and bolster the competitiveness of the European labour market by helping European citizens to acquire new skills, knowledge and qualifications and have them recognised across borders.
The Programme is aimed particularly at trainees in initial vocational training, people available on the labour market and professionals in vocational education and training.
Totnes European School has organised Leonardo transnational mobility programmes for over 10 years, and has a reputation second to none. References are available to bona fide institutions from our partners. Please email the Director if you wish to discuss this.
Costs for all programmes vary according to the number of participants, the period of English language training, and the number of weeks of placements, but would typically be around €3200 per person for 2 weeks of English language study followed by a 12 week career training placement and including 14 weeks of half board family accommodation, all based on a group of 10 persons.
The School is well versed in the requirements of these programmes
and has run many successful programmes in cooperation with European
partners. We understand the regulations, the funding and the
administrative requirements.
